What I do at Sakura

I am the Founder and Managing Director of SAKURA, but in essence it just means that I am responsible for everything.

When not dealing with client or team queries or problems, then I am found at networking events, meetings with contacts and clients or doing a video or post or two for LinkedIN.

My superpower

A phrase that I picked up from a mentor is that we all have ‘a mountain of value’ that we can offer to our clients, much of which might seem quite simple and straightforward to us, but is amazing and transformative for our Clients – so with over 20 + years, of working in and now with, SMEs in different countries and different phases of growth – I am now convinced that this is absolutely the case !

Separately the host of a podcast that I guested on called me an ‘ Entrepreneur Whisperer’ so I also like that one.

A little bit about me

I am a bit of a sports fan, whether watching on TV or attending ‘Live’ which means I am keen on rugby, football, Gaelic football and even some golf and a bit of cricket occasionally !

So I am a season ticket holder for both Harlequins and Leinster in rugby and also often go to the Aviva, Wembley and Croke Park for matches of one type or another.

Additionally, I love travel too and especially Asia and Japan (which is where the name SAKURA came from) and I am potentially thinking about retiring at some point to Australia in the future .. .

My favourite quote is ‘The Team’ – spoken by Robert De Niro in the Untouchables movie. Why ? Well you have to see the scene to understand, but seriously it also reminds me of the importance of having a good Team around you to try and grow a business – and we have a good Team here in SAKURA !

One thing you might not know about me

Accountancy’s gain was history’s loss !

Whether I have ended up in writing, researching or perhaps even lecturing, history was an area that I was very keen and interested in, but perhaps not with the same obvious career opportunities as in accountancy … . 

However I am still keen to talk to anyone who has an interest in DeValera, Kemal Attaturk or the history of the Balkans.

What I do at Sakura

My day-to-day role is to communicate with our new clients through the on-boarding process. Once they are working with us, I keep in regular contact with them to guide them through any issues or questions that they have. 

My superpower

Finding the correct information for their particular query and helping them to solve the problem, so that they are more confident dealing with it the next time it arises.

A little bit about me

 I am from Dublin, but I live in KIldare now.

Gardening is becoming a favourite thing for me to do. It is quite addictive to plant things and see how they grow throughout the year! On a similar theme, I love getting into the sea, lakes and rivers when I can!

What I do at Sakura

I support clients with day-to-day bookkeeping, VAT Returns, and month-end processes. I help keep financial records accurate and up to date, so clients and the wider team have reliable financial records to work from.

My superpower

When clients come to me, what I'm really brilliant at is getting things done quickly without compromising on accuracy.

A little bit about me

I’m from the Philippines and enjoy the simple things outside work, especially spending time with my cats. I’m naturally curious and enjoy learning new things, and I’m happiest when I find ways to make things work better.
